Urban Mobility Living Labs
Streetscapes and low-carbon mobility in Buenos Aires and Kumasi

The transformation of cities towards sustainable and inclusive development is a key objective of global agendas such as the SDGs or the New Urban Agenda. There is substantial potential to improve urban access, air quality, safety and the quality of life in cities along with reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions if an integrated policy and planning approach is applied.

This studio supports this process through a perspective on transformative living labs focusing on improving urban mobility solutions, connectivity and fostering local innovation to contribute to sustainable urban development.

In cooperation with the local municipalities and universities, we tackle this problem in the context of Buenos Aires and Kumasi by integrating new sustainable transportation modes and road safety into urban and street design solutions. This work will incorporate solutions in the context of countries' transition to sustainable energy modes and the digitalisation of urban transport systems. The studio is a part of the TRANS-SAFE project and works in cooperation with the ACCESS project facilitated by the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative.

The PIV linked to the studio is realized in cooperation with Wuppertal Institute and associated project partners.
