Sustainable Mobility & Urban Governance
Shaping Inclusive Transport Systems in Low- and Middle-Income Countries Through Co-Design Processes
This online seminar explores innovative strategies to decarbonize the transport sector while improving urban governance in low- and middle-income countries. Anchored in co-design processes, it brings together urban planning, energy, and infrastructure perspectives through real-world examples from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The seminar highlights how integrated policies — combining measures to avoid un-necessary travel, shift to inclu-sive transport modes, and improve vehicle and infra-structure efficiency — can generate co-benefits ranging from better air quality to enhanced economic opportun-ities and more inclusive public spaces. Participants will gain insights into effective governance approaches, financing mechanisms, and stakeholder engagement techniques from city officials, technical experts, and local entrepreneurs. By emphasizing living labs and practical case studies, the course empowers practitioners and decision-makers to adopt transformative solutions that foster access-ibility, equity, and innovation in rapidly urbanizing contexts.
Ultimately, the seminar aims to strengthen crosssector collaborations and accelerate the transition to sustainable, inclusive mobility systems.
