COLLOC
Collaborative production of transformation knowledge in self-organized occupations
“COLLOC” is a workshop series that has been taking place every year since 2018 in a self-organized occupation in Brazil. It stands for “Collaborative Production of Transformation Knowledge in Self-Organized Occupations”.

The workshop is structured in three phases, oriented to the methodology of transdisciplinary procedures in the implementation of continuing education and networking activities. It focuses on the self-organized occupation of Solano Trindade in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Working closely with community leaders, activists, residents, practitioners, academics, and students, the workshop will address the need to integrate knowledge from different actors and disciplines in order to address complex urban development challenges in more appropriate and innovative ways. Together, we will design context-appropriate interventions and reflect on their impact on the future development of Solano Trindade.
The first phase of the workshop will be online, the second and third phases will be in-person in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year we will not have the opportunity to participate online in phases 2 and 3, so please only apply if you are able to fly to Brazil for the 10 days of the on-site workshop in November. Unfortunately, there is no PROMOS funding available this year. There may be limited funding available from other sources, but we cannot guarantee this.
The “COLLOC 2024” workshop is organized by the TU Berlin/Office of Science in cooperation with the Habitat Unit, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg/ Department of Urban Planning and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/ Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism. It is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
