Curriculum Vitae

Lorenza Manfredi joined Habitat Unit in 2019 as a PhD candidate in joint-program with the IUAV University of Venice and the Technical University Berlin. Her research “Disruptions. Spreeraum Ost, Berlin 1990 - 2020” investigates the reconfiguration of autonomous spaces in the last 30 years in the Spreeraum Ost area. The reflection which emerges reveals ambiguities and vulnerabilities resulting from the neoliberal urbanization of Berlin. The analysed projects developed pragmatical yet cynical survival tactics practicing unconventional collaborations with the aim of keeping alive plural spaces in the contemporary city. For this research project she has been a DAAD and STIBET scholarship holder and published articles and book chapters for Springer, Jovis, Transcript, Quodlibet, LetteraVentidue and others.
She also works as a freelance architect and manages and curates the project and art space Officina Neukölln. She initiated and led design workshops with the collectives of Stellepolari and Simerilab in Italy, Spain and Lebanon.
