Curriculum Vitae

Huang Huang has been a Doctoral Candidate at the Habitat Unit since November 2014. She studied Landscape Architecture for five years and continued her study in Urban Planning for three years in Tongji University, Shanghai. After 3 years work in a design and planning research institute, Huang commenced her doctoral study in urban planning and focused on post-rural urbanisation in China at the TU Berlin.

Huang Huang’s research focuses on urban sociology, rural urbanisation, urban-rural development, rural landscape and waterfront landscape. Supported by a doctoral scholarship from the TU Berlin, she is currently immersed in a study of rural development within the current urbanization processes in China, which will analyze exploratory rural practices in China with a critical perspective through an in-depth case study. The project follows on from her previous study on rural challenges in China, which started in 2008 and addressed the subject of intensive development in rural China as supported by national funding.
