Climate Models and Future Scenarios for Berlin-Brandenburg

Prof. Dr. Juergen P. Kropp is head of the working group „Urban Transformations“ and deputy chair of Department II „Climate Resilience“ at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research as well as scientific advisor and partner of Bauhaus Erde gGmbH, which was founded in 2021. He studied chemistry and physics before earning his PhD in theoretical physics at the University of Potsdam. His main focus is on criteria for transformation challenges and pathways, i.e. how, for example, urban(ized) life and infrastructure can be made compatible with climate protection and sustainability goals. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious CleanTechMedia Award for founding the Climate Media Factory Potsdam, an innovative media lab developing advanced learning and teaching tools. He has published numerous papers, is a member of international advisory boards, and coordinated several European research projects that focus in particular on societal and technical transformation challenges in urban spaces.
